Charles Roven, the producer of “”, said that “” was still on hold, despite Warner Bros.’ plan to fast-track the “” sequel. Speaking to The Washington Times, Roven revealed that the film still had no script, but “various story ideas” were being thrown around.

Previously, Zack Snyder was tapped to helm “Man of Steel 2”. However, the director stepped down from the second Superman solo film after he wrapped filming on “Justice League”.

Snyder exited “Justice League” after he mourned the death of his daughter. As reported before, following Snyder’s departure from the superhero team-up movie, “” director Joss Whedon stepped in for the post-production and two-month reshoot. The final product of the film brings more optimistic tone rather than Snyder’s previous dark take on superhero stories.

In other news, may return as Batman after all. Affleck, who withdrew from directing “”, previously seemed about his return to DC Extended Universe. Matt Reeves was set to direct the film and he said he would start fresh, which opened possibility of changes, including Batman’s recasting. When asked if the actor would return to play the Dark Knight for the stand-alone film, Roven didn’t confirm or deny. “From everything I know, he’s going to play that Batman,” said the producer. “They’re retooling the script, so I can’t really say anything for certain.”

Affleck, on the other hand, said that the film was “something I’m contemplating.” Even though he sounded quite ready to move on from his role as Batman, the actor said, “You don’t do it forever, so I want to find a graceful and cool way to segue out of it.” This indicated that the “” director wouldn’t be leaving his superhero character soon after “Justice League”.

After disappointment over previous DC films such as “” and “”, Warner Bros. and DC Films expect that their future films wouldn’t be just commercial and critical success, but also whole and united. “The goal is to make sure when you’re watching the movie, it all feels cohesive,” said Roven.

Other than the small updates, Roven didn’t reveal any further. Both Snyder and Whedon have remained mum since Snyder’s departure.
