Meghan Markle’s Mother Drops a Strong Hint About What She’ll Wear to the Wedding

Meghan Markle’s father may not be able to attend the royal wedding on Saturday, but her mother has already landed in London with her dress in tow. Doria Ragland landed in Heathrow’s V.I.P. Windsor suite on Wednesday and was picked up by Markle’s assistant, Amy Pickerill, while handlers carried her luggage, including a Burberry garment bag.

Burberry’s former director of communications, Isabel May, is a close friend of Markle’s and Burberry had been a front-runner to design the highly anticipated wedding gown before Ralph & Russo emerged as the odds-on favorite. Another guess has been Stella McCartney. All three options are quintessentially British and sources have said that Markle is keen to champion the Brits and have British couture on display at the wedding.

It’s unclear what Ragland’s role will be during the wedding; before Thomas Markle confirmed he wouldn’t make it, Ragland was only confirmed to ride in the carriage with her daughter to Windsor Castle. It seems possible that Ragland will also walk her daughter down the aisle after Markle’s father backed out of the wedding because of major heart surgery.

Ragland has also gone through some personal changes recently. According to Us Weekly, she has quit her job at a mental-health facility in Los Angeles in hopes of starting her own practice.

“Doria [Ragland] is no longer working at the mental-health clinic. It was Doria’s decision to leave,” a source said. “She has talked about starting her own private practice, focusing on working with elderly patients.”

All should become clear eventually, as Ragland recently sat down with Oprah Winfrey for six hours. The Palace will need to approve of the interview before it airs, but really, who can say no to Oprah?
