Spaniard Nadal is the most successful player in the history of the tournament on the Cote d’Azur with 10 career triumphs, including back-to-back wins in 2016 and 2017.

The world No 1 is a force to be reckoned with on the clay courts and as such is the favourite to once again go all the way this year despite recent hip issues that have kept him out of ATP action since January’s Australian Open.

But Nadal faces a difficult draw having been joined by Novak Djokovic and Dominic Thiem in the first quarter.

Serbian Djokovic has had injury woes of his own with his comeback from a long-time elbow injury having been bumpy. He has lost his last three successive matches in Australia, Indian Wells and Miami.

Back with Marian Vajda as his coach, at least temporarily, Djokovic will hope to show signs of recovery on the red stuff as he hopes to get back to his best level of tennis before the French Open.

So how can you watch all the action live as Nadal and Djokovic bid for glory?

How to watch Monte Carlo Masters on TV

Sky Sports will carry all coverage of the Masters 1000 level tournament in Monte Carlo for UK viewers.

Sky’s coverage begins with the first round on Monday April 16, starting at 10am. That means a handful of first round matches on Sunday will not be shown live.

Day one will be broadcast on both Sky Sports’ Main Event (Sky Channel 401, Virgin 501, BT 437) and Arena channels (Sky Channel 408) with the coverage on the Main Event ending at 3pm but the Arena channel continuing to air until 6pm.

That will also be the case on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday – both channels starting and finishing at those same times.

Saturday’s semi-finals, however, will be shown exclusively on the Arena channel from 12.30pm until 4.30pm.

Sunday’s final will start at 1.30pm, only on the Arena. The doubles final will also be on the same channel earlier in the day, at 10.30am.
