Roger Federer is gunning to retain his world No 1 title at Indian Wells this week.

The Swiss master must reach the semi-finals in order to stave off Rafael Nadal.

Federer faces Serbian Filip Krajinovic tonight in the third round at Indian Wells.

He beat Federico Delbonis 6-3 7-6(8) on Sunday in a routine win on the California hard court.

Federer is the clear favourite to win tonight and continue his excellent 2018.

And you can follow all the action below…

[match starts 8pm]

Federer vs Krajinovic start time

19:30: We’re expecting Roger Federer and Filip Krajinovic out on court at 8pm after Mannarino vs Chardy is over.

Chardy is currently a set up with the second locked at 3-3.

Federer’s title chances

Roger Federer may only be in the third round here at Indian Wells but speculating whether or not he can win the title is of course too temping to resist.

If Federer wins tonight he will play a Frenchman in the fourth round.

Adrian Mannarino faces Jeremy Chardy today for the right to come up against Federer or Krajinovic.

After that, Federer is projected to meet fifth seed Dominic Thiem in the quarter-finals and Kevin Anderson in the semis.

A final clash with second seed Marin Cilic remains on the cards – but the Croat must get past Philipp Kohlschreiber today first.

Roger Federer the Indian Wells favourite

is the firm favourite to win the Indian Wells title after Novak Djokovic was dumped out of the competition.

Djokovic lost to Japanese qualifier Taro Daniel on Sunday.

Federer said of the situation: “To me, it’s not that surprising.

“When you go away from the game for over a two-month period, it starts feeling a little bit that way.

“When you do come back from injury or when you haven’t played in a long time, it just takes extra effort.

“It is still early stages for Novak coming back and the first one after surgery. He’s only going to get better from here.”

Federer vs Krajinovic stats

Roger Federer has never played Filip Krajinovic in a competitive match.

Yet Federer’s stats suggest he is the clear favourite today.

The Swiss star has won ever match of his 2018 season so far, clinching the Australian Open and Rotterdam Open titles.

He has dropped just three sets during that period.

As for Krajinovic, he reached the Dubai semi-finals last month before being beaten by Lucas Pouille.

He eased past Mitchell Krueger 6-2 6-2 on Sunday.

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of Roger Federer vs Filip Krajinovic.

The Federer juggernaut is expected to have no problem against Krajinovic tonight.

Krajinovic, 26, is yet to win a career title on the ATP Tour and comes up against a 20-time Grand Slam champion.

But you never know, there could be an upset if the 36-year-old is not careful!
