Winter Music Conference to Return for Three Days in 2018

While everyone was busy loudly questioning whether Winter Music Conference had bitten the dust, WMC organizers were finalizing the storied gathering’s reinvention. There will indeed be a 33rd edition of WMC, but instead of a weeklong affair, it’ll return for three days, Tuesday to Thursday, March 20 to 22, and it’s being held not in a cavernous convention center, but in the fabulous halls of the Faena Forum on Miami Beach.

WMC co-founder Bill Kelly says he’s “thrilled” to bring three days of industry panels to Faena, a full list of which includes talks and discussions led by artists, agents and managers, press professionals, plus info on A&R, streaming services, licensing and more.

Of course, it wouldn’t be WMC without the International Dance Music Awards, and so Kelly announces that voting for the 32nd-annual IDMAs is officially open. That game, too, has changed, but only slightly. It won’t take place during a live show, but will exist online, and instead of one Best DJ category, there are now four Best Artist categories, one male and female in both mainstream and underground classifications.

“We wanted to specifically highlight all the incredible female talent in electronic music,” Kelly says. “We think their contributions deserve to be recognized.”

You can vote for Mainstream Artist nominees include Alesso, Alison Wonderland, Anna Lunoe, Marshmello, Mija and Tokimonsta. Representing for the Underground Artists are Adam Beyer, Carl Cox, Charlotte de Witte, Ida Engberg, The Black Madonna and more

Check the full list of IDMA categories below. You can vote for your favorites today at WMC’s website, and also head over there for tickets and more information about this year’s gathering.
