Sinéad O’Connor has passed away at the age of 56

 Irish singer and activist Sinéad O’Connor has passed away at the age of 56. Her family announced the news “with great sadness”, saying "her family and friends are devastated". The cause of death has not been made public. Tributes have poured in for the “radical and incredible” Sinéad O’Connor. Taoiseach (Irish PM) Leo Varadkar said her music "was loved around the world and her talent was unmatched". Irish President Michael D Higgins praised O’Connor’s “authenticity” as well as her "beautiful, unique voice".

Sinéad O’Connor had many popular songs throughout her career. Some of her most popular songs include “Nothing Compares 2 U”, “Mandrinka”, “The Empire’s New Clothes”, “The Last Day of Our Acquaintance”, “Fire Babylon”, “Troy”, “I Am Stretching On Your Grave”, “Success Has Made a Failure of Our Home” and "Three Babies".

Sinéad O’Connor won several awards for her music. In 1991, she won a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Performance for her album "I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got". She also won three MTV Video Music Awards in 1990 for her song “Nothing Compares 2 U”, including Video of the Year, Best Female Video, and Best Post-Modern Video.

Sinéad O’Connor’s last studio album was “I’m Not Bossy, I’m the Boss”, released in 2014. In total, she released 10 studio albums throughout her career.

Sinéad O’Connor had four children: Jake, Roisin, Shane, and Yeshua. They have different fathers who are a music producer, journalist, musician, and businessman.
