Richard Sharp has announced his resignation as chairman of the BBC after a report found he breached the code on public appointments.
Mr Sharp said the report found he did not properly disclose his involvement in the facilitation of a £800,000 loan guarantee to former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Announcing his resignation, Mr Sharp said: "I have always maintained the breach was inadvertent and not material, which the facts he lays out substantiate."
He said he was resigning to “prioritise the interests of the BBC” and would remain in post until the end of June while the process to appoint his successor took place.
