Chelsea’s out of favour striker Michy Batshuayi is wanted by Everton in a permanent deal, according to reports.

The forward had his loan spell at Valencia terminated by the Spanish club after failing to make an impact earlier this week.

Valencia were knocked out of the Copa del Rey on Tuesday, losing 2-1 to Sporting Gijon, and in his final appearance for them, Batshuayi was substituted at half-time.

Nonetheless, Everton are keen on taking the striker to Goodison Park, according to Sky Sports.

He netted just three times in 23 matches this season and having also fallen out of favour at Stamford Bridge, it is clear his future lies elsewhere.

Valencia sporting director Mateu Alemany said there is plenty of interest in the Batshuayi.

“Batshuayi’s situation is very clear,” he said. “We are negotiating the player’s exit with various other clubs.

“I expect he will leave in the coming hours or days. The player knows he is leaving, we told him some weeks ago.

“We hope that, for his sake, this can be resolved as soon as possible. He is leaving and it’s now a matter of negotiation.”

If Everton are able to offload one of either Cenk Tosun or Oumar Niasse this month, it will allow them to bring in the Belgium international.

Having already acquired the services of defender Kurt Zouma on loan from Chelsea, Everton would not be able to take Batshuayi in the same capacity, due to restrictions on the numbers of players one club can have from another.

Batshuayi, who also spent the second half of the 2017/18 season on loan with Borussia Dortmund, has played 53 times for Chelsea and scored 19 times. His most memorable strike came against West Brom in May 2017, and secured Chelsea the 2016/17 Premier League title.
