Brentford star Said Benrahma scores stunning goal days after being 'congratulated’ on rumoured Chelsea transfer

Said Benrahma has given Chelsea fans another taste of what he could bring to Frank Lampard’s side as he scored a beautiful goal for Brentford on Saturday.

The 24-year-old forward has enjoyed a brilliant season for the Championship side, with 15 goals and nine assists going into their clash against Derby County.

And he maintained the stunning run of form that has seen him linked with a move to Stamford Bridge by scoring another two goals in the Bees’ 3-1 win.

Ollie Watkins, also tipped for a move to the Premier League, took just three minutes to open the scoring for Brentford at Pride Park, before Jason Knight levelled for the hosts on the half-hour mark, but Benrahma took it from there.

There was more than a slice of fortune in his first goal, as his strong and low shot somehow squirmed through the grasp of Rams goalkeeper Ben Hamer and trickled over the line.

But his second was pure class, and the kind of finish Chelsea legend and boss Lampard would have been proud to score.

Cutting in from the left wing, Brentford’s star man shrugged off his two markers before curling a wonderful shot beyond Hamer’s reach and into the right postage stamp of the goal.

That made it six goals in three games for the ace, taking his tally for the season to 17, as Brentford further strengthened their automatic promotion bid by climbing to within two points of second-place West Brom.

Benrahma’s latest wondergoal also came just days after he was ‘congratulated’ on his move to Stamford Bridge on social media, following reports from his homeland.

Transfer rumours in his native Algeria have claimed Chelsea have held direct talks with Benrahma over signing him this summer.

A €1.7m signing from Ligue 1 side Nice in 2018, Brentford rejected a bid of €16m from Aston Villa for Benrahma last summer, but it appears he could be on the move this year after his stunning campaign.

The Blues have already signed Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, but could be on the lookout for another forward as Willian and Pedro are both set to leave when their contracts expire at the end of the season.
