Winds have carried the wildfire smoke southward into the US, triggering poor air quality alerts in several eastern states. The Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre says it has been an 'unprecedented' year for wildfires and resources were being exhausted across the country. Federal officials in Canada warned that without a change in weather, the country was set for its worst year for wildfire destruction
