At least 11 people died and dozens others were left injured following an explosion at a firecracker factory in Harda, India on Tuesday.

Local firefighters, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams and other emergency response teams rushed to the scene to clear out burned debris and extricate victims feared to be trapped inside.

At least 174 people were rescued and rushed to hospitals, with roughly 50 ambulances sent to the scene, according to the Madhya Pradesh state chief, Mohan Yadav.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X, formerly known as Twitter, following the accident, announcing 200,000 rupees (CAD$3,250) for the families of the deceased and (CAD$815) rupees for the injured.
