Gareth Bale leaves Real Madrid training ground as Tottenham prepare to announce imminent return of Welshman

Gareth Bale will shortly arrive at the Tottenham training ground to put the finishing touches on his return to Spurs.

The Wales ace is closing in on his season-long loan switch to White Hart Lane and talkSPORT understands Bale will be at Hotspur Way within the next hour to complete the move.

His flight from Spain landed at Luton Airport at 12:25pm on Friday and he was expected at Spurs’ training ground between 1-1:30pm.

Bale is coming back to a club where the fans are unanimous in their love for him

Various reports on Thursday claimed Bale had bade farewell to his Real Madrid teammates ahead of his Bernabeu departure seven years after joining Los Blancos in a then world record transfer from Spurs.

Spanish outlet Deportes Cuatro claimed to capture the last image of Bale as a Real Madrid player as a car was filmed leaving the LaLiga giants’ training ground.

Bale was joined on his flight from Spain to England by Sergio Reguilon, the left-back, who will sign for Tottenham on a permanent transfer.

Spurs hope to announce both deals on Friday.

Tottenham fans far and wide will rejoice at seeing Bale, one of the club’s greatest ever players, return after seven years away.

And a season-long loan deal, in which Spurs are expected to pay at least half of Bale’s £600,000-a-week wages, is close to being finalised.

However, the north London faithful shouldn’t expect to see the Welshman is action for the club anytime soon following his arrival.

According to talkSPORT sources, the winger will not be expected to play for a full month after rejoining the north London club due to a knee injury and other fitness concerns.

He last played for Los Blancos in June so will not go straight into Jose Mourinho’s side, who made a limp start to the 2020/21 Premier League season with a 1-0 defeat to Everton.

Bale’s only competitive time on the pitch lately has been 45 minutes against Finland and 90 against Bulgaria in Wales’ recent Nations League fixtures.

But, he could be set for a very tasty debut for Tottenham against London rivals West Ham on October 17 – a repeat of the fixture that saw the flyer score one of his memorable Spurs goals.

It’s been a very exciting transfer window week for Spurs, with Reguilon also set to sign imminently.

Reguilon was named LaLiga’s left-back of the season in 2019/20 while on loan at Sevilla, but he was then told he was surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu.

The Spain international was heavily linked with Manchester United but decided to join Tottenham after reportedly being convinced by Spurs boss Jose Mourinho.
