Keir Starmer enjoyed a victory lap today in Commons taunting the poor performance in recent local elections by the Conservative party who lost over 1000 seats across England.

The Conservatives anticipated the possibility that the party would be routed in the locals polls, with Starmer saying that was 'a Tory promise they actually haven’t broken.' Starmer continued his calculated provocations adding: 'This is the prime minister who has only had to fight for two things in his life. Last year he lost a Tory beauty contest to the member for South West Norfolk, who then lost to a lettuce.'

The prime minister hit back by highlighting the fact that Starmer had also carried out a series of high profile reversals on key policy areas, including tuition fees very recently, telling MPs that it was 'a bit rich to hear about mandates from the person who’s broken every single promise he was elected on.'
