Impressive prospect Dalton Smith makes statement with big one-punch KO at Eddie Hearn's back garden Fight Camp, referee counts for no reason

Dalton Smith took advantage of a big opportunity by scoring a one-punch knockout of Nathan Bennett on Saturday night.

The 23-year-old was given a slot on Eddie Hearn’s first Fight Camp show in the Matchroom HQ back garden and took it with aplomb.

After controlling the first four rounds by displaying his technical ability, Smith upped the tempo in the fifth.

The impressive super-lightweight prospect landed a swift right hand and laid Bennett out on the canvas.

It was clear that the fight was finished, but referee Ian John Lewis unnecessarily decided to complete a full ten count.

Thankfully Bennett was up and okay shortly afterwards as Smith moved to 7-0 (6 KOs).

Hearn previously told talkSPORT about the Fight Camp series: “We talked about doing boxing in studios and there’s a lot of people doing it.

“I just feel like when you are talking about a gladiatorial sport, like boxing, you need to create that moment, that energy, not just for the viewer at home but the fighter as well.

“We’ve got big plans. It looks fantastic…

“You have to be compelling and innovative and come up with ideas like Matchroom Fight Camp, where broadcasters are going to say, ‘Wow, we love that.’”
