Joe Rogan reveals what Conor McGregor said to him before unleashing tirade of abuse at Dustin Poirier and wife Jolie after UFC 264 leg break

Joe Rogan admitted Conor McGregor asked to be interviewed after suffering a gruesome leg break against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264, rather than forcing one upon him.

McGregor was lying prone against the cage with a fractured tibia and fibula when Rogan sat down next to him to talk about his defeat.

Although officially ruled as a doctor’s stoppage, the loss is McGregor’s second defeat to Poirier already this year and his third in four fights.

Despite no longer being one of the best fighters in the world, the star power ‘The Notorious’ possesses transcends the sport of MMA entirely.

As one of the most commercially viable athletes on the planet, fans are always eager to hear what the Irish brawler has to say.

And in spite of his clear discomfort and pain at the T-Mobile Arena on July 10, Rogan maintains he was asked to conduct the interview, rather than forcing himself upon the 32-year-old.

“People are like, ‘why did you interview him?’ He actually brought me over,” Rogan explained on a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast.

“He goes, ‘Come over here, lad. Let’s have a podcast’.

He said, ‘Come on, Joe. Let’s have a f***** podcast’. He asked me to sit down next to him.

“I was like, ‘How am I going to do this? I feel like I should just get something out of him.’

“Even if you recognise the fact that he is emotionally charged up, this is just him expressing himself while he was emotionally charged up.”

Rogan previously came under scrutiny for interviewing an extremely concussed Daniel Cormier in the aftermath of his loss to Jon Jones at UFC 214.

After suffering a head kick KO, Cormier was visibly upset and lacking any real comprehension.

Rogan issued a sincere and heartfelt apology afterwards and took responsibility for initiating the interview with the former light-heavyweight champion.
