Kepa set to leave Chelsea on loan after Edouard Mendy signing with Antonio Rudiger exit also possible as Barcelona keen

Chelsea are working on getting rid of Kepa before the transfer window closes next month now Edouard Mendy has signed for the Blues.

Mendy on Thursday completed his transfer to Stamford Bridge from Rennes, and he’s expected to immediately come into the starting XI for Chelsea’s next match – against West Brom on Saturday, with full commentary LIVE on talkSPORT!

Mendy is officially a Chelsea player and it appears Kepa’s time at Stamford Bridge is coming to an end

Kepa is unlikely to be keen on playing back-up to his replacement, so Frank Lampard is allegedly willing to sanction a loan exit before next month’s transfer deadline.

The Sun claim Chelsea will listen to offers for Kepa and they hope he can perform well away from Stamford Bridge where he no longer has the pressure of playing for the Blues.

A permanent transfer is considered a more likely possibility in the future as Chelsea want to recoup at least £40million of Kepa’s £71.6m fee, and he may impress during his loan spell leading to clubs eyeing him for a permanent signing.

Kepa is unlikely to be the only departure from Stamford Bridge before the transfer window closes, as out of favour centre-back Antonio Rudiger is also being linked with a transfer.

The Germany defender has been left out Lampard’s past two matchday squads and appears to have slipped down the pecking order to become Chelsea’s fifth choice centre-half.

And, according to Kicker, Barcelona are leading the race to sign Rudiger, while his former club Roma are also keen.

There is also the chance Ruben Loftus-Cheek could leave, with talkSPORT understanding that Southampton are keen on the England midfielder.
