Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary Jonathan Ashworth has hit out at Home Secretary Suella Braverman over her "extraordinary" speech at the National Conservatism Conference yesterday, accusing her of spreading a "let them pick fruit" message.

Ms Braverman said there is "no good reason" we can't train people in the UK to do jobs like fruit picking, in order to bring immigration down.

"Rishi Sunak has got to condemn this conference, and if he doesn't condemn this conference and those who've attended it, I think you can conclude it's the modern face of the Tory party," said Mr Ashworth.
