Lionel Messi slams Barcelona in emotional Instagram post for way they treated Luis Suarez after goal hero completes Atletico transfer

Lionel Messi’s relationship with Barcelona doesn’t appear to be any better judging by his response to Luis Suarez’s departure.

The top scoring forward hit out at the club for ‘kicking out’ his teammate in an explosive Instagram post.

Suarez was forced out of Barca after being made surplus to requirements by manager Ronald Koeman.

The Catalan club came to an agreement with LaLiga rivals Atletico Madrid who have paid just £5.5million for one of Barca’s greatest ever scorers.

The 33-year-old scored 198 goals in 283 appearances following a £65million move from Liverpool in 2014 and Suarez said an emotional goodbye to the club on Thursday in a press conference.

He had a great relationship with Messi both on and off the pitch, with the latter slamming the club on social media on Friday.

“It will be strange to see you with another shirt and much more to face you,” Messi wrote on Instagram.

“You deserved the goodbye for what you are: one of the most important players in the club’s history, achieving important things both as a group and individually.

“And not to get kicked out like they did. But the truth is that at this point nothing surprises me. I wish you all the best in this new challenge. I love you very much.”

Messi had informed Barcelona earlier this summer he wished to active a clause in his contract to leave on a free transfer.

LaLiga and the club insisted the clause was no longer active and the Argentina superstar reluctantly returned to the club for the 2020/21 season.

The relationship between Messi and Barca, in particular president Josep Maria Bartomeu, is at an all-time low and the handling of the Suarez affair will only further detriment it.
