Liverpool trio Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino sent warning as Reds agree £45m Diogo Jota deal after Thiago signing

Watch out Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino! Diogo Jota is coming for you…

talkSPORT host and Liverpool fan Tony Cascarino has issued this warning to the Reds’ famous front three with the Wolves star set to complete his move to Anfield imminently.

Jota is set to become Liverpool’s third signing of the summer after Kostas Tsimikas and Thiago Alcantara

The Portgual international, 23, will join in a £45million deal and will provide competition for Salah, Firmino and Mane, who have helped make Liverpool one of the world’s best clubs.

Jota scored 44 goals as a Wolves player and his Merseyside arrival is something Cas’ welcomes.

Cascacarino said: “If you look at him his numbers are great. He’s very effective, very quick and can come off that left hand side.

“He reminds me a bit of that Salah type of player. You seek chances all the time with him.

“I said before the season started that I’d love to see someone come in and give some competition to Mane, Salah and Firmino and I think he will do that, certainly for the two wide boys.”

Jota will be Liverpool’s second signing in quick succession after they finally acquired Thiago Alcantara on Friday.

The midfielder joins in an initial £20m deal, with a further £5m in add-ons from Bayern Munich.

It’s a signing that all Liverpool fans are delighted to see but Cascarino admits to being a bit sad due to what it could mean for Georginio Wijnaldum’s future at the club.

Cascarino added: “He’s a really good player. If you play for Bayern Munich, you’re a top quality player.

“It’s quite interesting because there was a period in the season where he got left out – they lost 5-1 to Eintracht Frankfurt but got back in via the Champions League and by the end of the season he played a lot of football.

“I’m a little bit sad because I like Wijnaldum, I think he’s a top player. We pretty much know that he’s going to be leaving the football club which is a blow.”

Cascarino revealed why Thiago reminds him of Reds legend Ronnie Whelan, who won twelve major honours at the club.

Cascarino added: “He’s a fine, fine player. He reminds me of Ronnie Whelan. Ronnie could keep the ball for fun, Thiago can do that.”

Didi Hamann plays down Thiago to Liverpool deal and warns there’s no guarantee he’ll be a success at Anfield
