Lizzo shares on TikTok what she eats in a day on a vegan diet

The Grammy-award winning singer is on a health kick and has recently made the transition to a plant-based diet. She’s shared what she now eats in a day in a series of TikTok videos.

Lizzo has hopped onto the vegan diet bandwagon and is feeling “good as hell”.

The Grammy-award winning singer announced her transition to a vegan diet in a series of TikTok videos, showcasing what she typically eats in a day.

“As a new vegan, I’m enjoying exploring flavors from plants & plant-based proteins!” the 32-year-old captioned her most recent video. “Every journey is personal & deserves to be celebrated.”

She shared an example of what she eats for breakfast, lunch, dinner and (of course) dessert.

“Disclaimer, this isn’t every day, but this was a pretty average one,” she explains in the video to her 8.8 million TikTok followers.

Lizzo starts her day with a green breakfast smoothie made with coconut water, kale or spinach, and frozen fruit.

Lunch is a homemade colourful salad packed with kale, red cabbage, broccoli, seasoned avocado, white onions and carrots.

Snacks are a Lesser Evil Paleo Puffs – a vegan alternative to Cheetos, which she admits was the hardest food to give up. “I used to eat a lot of hot Cheetos, but that wasn’t good for my acid-reflux. These are Cheeto-alternative I love that’s vegan and I dip them in hummus. Badda-boom badda-snack!” she cheers.

For dinner, Lizzo makes herself a truffle-chickpea-mushroom ball, with quinoa and leftover salad from lunch. She then pairs this with a vegan diet soda. “I needed some sparkles in my throat,” she says.

And for dessert, she whips up a peanut butter jelly smoothie made from peanut butter, frozen strawberries, oats, oat milk, vanilla protein powder and “love from Jesus”. This makes her “feel very lit and full”.

In another TikTok video, she explains one of her biggest challenges transitioning to a vegan diet has been finding alternatives to hangover food. “I used to crave cheesy eggs, so here’s my substitute for cravings when you’re hungover,” she tells her followers. Lizzo makes a vegan breakfast scramble using a vegan egg alternative and stirs through a carne asada bean and corn mixture, along with spinach and vegan cheese. She then serves this with a side of vegan bacon which she cooks “in maple syrup so it gets nice and crunchy and candied.”

The singer has been on quite the health kick recently. Earlier this month, Lizzo shared her workout routine on the video-sharing app as a message to “fat-shamers”.

The video features a montage of clips of her working out, while narrating the footage with powerful words about her body.

“Hey. So I’ve been working out consistently for the last 5 years, and it may come as a surprise for some of y’all, but I’m not working out to have your ideal body type. I’m working out to have my ideal body type,” she says in a voiceover. “And you know what type that is? None of your f*cking business. Because I am beautiful, I am strong, I do my job, and I stay on my job.”

The body-positive advocate goes on to talk about how the word ‘health’ isn’t just determined by physical appearance.

“So next time you want to come to somebody and judge them, whether they drink kale smoothies or eat McDonald’s or work out or not work out, how about you look at your own f*cking self and worry about your own g*damn body, because health is not just determined on what you look like on the outside,” she states. “Health is also what happens on the inside, and a lot of y’all need to do a f*cking cleanse for your insides.”

After her inspiring speech, she joyfully signs off saying, “Namaste, have a great day.”
