Manuel Locatelli 'wants to join Juventus' but 'new English club' enters race for Arsenal transfer target, reveals Sassuolo chief

Sassuolo will speak to Juventus over the sale of Italian midfielder Manuel Locatello, Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali has confirmed.

It’s been a memorable summer for Locatelli, who was part of the Italy squad that won Euro 2020.

Locatelli was a vital part of Italy’s successful Euro 2020 campaign and scored two goals in the finals

Arsenal were linked with him before the tournament started but interest in the 23-year-old grew as he impressed for the national team.

It appears Juve are winning the race to sign but Sassuolo will only sell for the right price.

“Tomorrow we’ll have a direct contact with Juventus for Locatelli,” Carnevali explained to Sky Sport Italia, per Goal, on Thursday.

“He wants to join Juve. We’d be happy to sell Manuel to Juve… but they need to pay the right fee.”

Despite Locatelli’s clear preference, it’s not just Juve and Arsenal who are interested in signing him.

“Arsenal made a bid to sign him and also a new English club is now in the race,” Carnevali added.

Time is very much of the essence with regards to a Locatelli deal as Sassuolo want any transfers for key players completed by August 8.

Speaking about Domenico Berardi, who’s also been linked with a move away from Sassuolo, Carnevali said: “We are not selling any of our star names after August 8.”

“Domenico Berardi is our top player, we want to keep him.

“If an offer were to arrive, we’d take it into consideration and talk to the player, but we won’t sell anyone deep into August.”
