Mike Tyson undergoing electric shock muscle therapy to stay fit for Roy Jones Jr comeback exhibition fight

Mike Tyson has credited electrical muscle stimulation for helping to treat his pain while training for his comeback fight.

The 54-year-old will return against Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition bout on September 12 at the Dignity Health Sports Park in California.

In his latest build-up show on Triller, ‘Iron Mike’ showed fans inside his training camp for the bout.

This included one special machine operated by his strength trainer Brad Rowe.

Tyson explained as he was about to be hooked up: “”I’m getting ready to get rejuvenated. This is the electrician…

“I couldn’t do this [training] without that, my joints would be all f***ed, no way.

“I’d be retired. Listen, before he got on the scene and it was good, but then there was pain.

“Those pains came back and I said, ‘Wow, this is why I retired, this is why I stopped boxing.’

“And then I got this [machine]. I mean, you can’t believe this s***, man.”

Rowe added: “I got a text out of the blue saying that his back was sore, come down to Newport and work with him.

“And I told him one day, ‘Mike, let me get on you with the machine before you get in the ring. Let me see how much better you perform.’

“Literally within 30 seconds in the ring both him and his boxing trainer just stopped and looked at me.

“They’re like, ‘What the hell did you just do?’

“It’s a neuromuscular stimulator.

“It’s a DC current, it’s essentially enhancing our body’s signal to recruit more mucle fibres.

“So you’re saving wear and tear on the joints and tendons.

“As well as improving strength and performance.”

Many have raised concerns about the fight between 54-year-old ‘Iron Mike’ and 51-year-old Jones Jr.

But Tyson said: “My mentality is just what it’s always been.

“How do I say this? I’m an annihilator… Man for man I don’t think nobody can match me…

“I’m the greatest fighter since the conception of God, how could I not take this opportunity up?”

He added: “My ego’s f***ing with me and I’m saying, ‘N***a, you think you fly? You ain’t s***. An amateur can get in here and kick your ass, you better get on top of your game. You want to get embarrassed in front of these f***ing people?’

“Then the other ego says, ‘F*** you n***a, watch what I’m gonna do.’”

Mike concluded by laughing, pointing to his head and saying: “You don’t know what goes on up here.”
