Prince George Goes Tumbling After a Push from Cousin Savannah

Savannah Phillips had quite the weekend. The seven-year-old granddaughter of Princess Anne is the Queen’s oldest great-grandchild, but she has had a fairly low-key public profile so far. But that has all changed after her back-to-back encounters with Prince George this weekend.

At Saturday’s Trooping the Colour event, Savannah (the daughter of Prince William’s first cousin Peter Phillips) was the “breakout star,” as she at one point covered George’s mouth with her hand (shortly after she mimicked conducting an orchestra) after he was reportedly about to break out in giggles. The GIF of the mouth-covering quickly went viral, but Savannah’s time in the limelight, as it turned out, was just getting started.

On Sunday, Savannah was present at the polo match attended by Kate Middleton, George, and Princess Charlotte. The youngsters all played together amiably, but—in a bit of footage uncovered a few days after the photos were released—Savannah can be seen pushing George down a small hill when he tries to sit near her. George was not injured in the shove, and Savannah’s mother, Autumn, can be seen immediately reprimanding her. To add insult to injury, though, a boy sitting by the group then kicked George’s art down the hill after him.

People notes that Savannah seems to have different feelings toward Charlotte. “[Savannah] sat with Charlotte in her lap,” an observer told the outlet. “She hugged her and balanced her on her knee.”
