U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland told a Republican-controlled congressional committee on Wednesday that he runs a non-political department that does not do the bidding of the president. 'I am not the president's lawyer. I will add I am not Congress's prosecutor. The Justice Department works for the American people,' Garland told the House of Representatives judiciary committee.
