reveals her worst date, fitness routine and diet

Body+Soul meets the cast of ladies gracing our screens for The Bachelor 2021.

What does a typical week of exercise look like to you? What’s your approach to fitness?

  • 4-5 Days Weight Training (Including foam rolling/mobility)
  • 1-2 Days Cardio (HIIT/Lagree or Boxing)
  • 20k+ Steps per day
  • ALL of the Coastal Walks

Fitness to me is about getting your body moving, feeling strong, feeling confident, feeling empowered, social connection, bonding/bringing people together and having fun. It’s not just about aesthetics, it’s about how it makes you feel not only physically but mentally too.

I place a lot of emphasis on teaching people how to live a balanced lifestyle so they can still enjoy the things they love and live a happy, healthy life while also getting results.

It’s all in the approach, it’s a matter of shifting the mindset, implementing healthy habits, applying consistency which will develop discipline. Once you create discipline the results will follow as a natural consequence of that.

What’s the most extravagant thing you’ve done for love?

Up and leave my world and my business to go on The Bachelor.

What helps you get in the zone when you’re really nervous before a date?

Calling my bestie. She is my hype woman, will always make me feel calm before a date and fill me with positivity, confidence and energy.

What’s the worst date you’ve ever been on? What happened?

It was a blind date, he was late, a good 10+ years older than he said he was. Had absolutely nothing in common, he basically ordered everything on the menu and bragged about how much money he made. To top it off he also had bad breath.

Worst thing was I had to sit through a whole dinner as I didn’t want to be rude. On the positive, Japanese is my favourite cuisine so at least I got to enjoy the food.

What’s the most extreme thing you’ve done in the name of health and wellness?

I dropped my career as a Graphic Designer to follow my passion for Health, Fitness and Wellness to run my own business, and become a Personal Trainer. I want to educate, inspire, empower, and change people’s lives.

Do you have any wellness rituals you swear by?

I have a few..

  • Meditation: 20 min Vedic Meditation first thing in the morning (non-negotiable) and 20 min in the afternoon daily.
  • Daily Planning & Goal Setting
  • Gratitude Journaling
  • Practicing Mindset Techniques
  • Prioritising highest Values: making sure my life is demonstrating my highest priority values and if it’s not then I change it so it is. Secret to happiness
  • Listen to Motivational YouTube videos or podcasts every morning on my way to work
  • Going to the ocean either for a swim or walk to recenter and re-energise

What does a day on a plate look like to you?

MON-FRI

  • Brekkie : Quinoa Oats with Mixed Berries/Almond milk, Plant Protein Smoothie with Mixed Berries or Banana, Almond milk, PB2
  • Lunch: Meal prep from Macrobite (Generally: Harissa Chicken/Salmon, rice & veg or Burrito Bowl)
  • Dinner: Tahini salad with Roast Veg & Falafel or Homemade Pumpkin Soup
  • Go to Snacks: Fava beans, Carrots, Fruit, Hommus, Rice crackers, Corn Thins with Peanut butter & Honey

WEEKENDS

I do enjoy extra calories even during a cut on the weekend, I just make sure I’m mindful eating and reduce calories where I can. What I eat on the weekend varies and is goal dependant.

  • Brekkie: GF Toast, Avo & Eggs
  • Lunch: Homemade Poke Bowl or GF Ham or Tuna Salad Sandwich
  • Dinner: Eating out or Take Away (My go to is usually Jap or Thai)
  • Booze: Vodka, Lime Sodas or Seltzer’s (for lower calories) but love a Margie or Rose too
  • Go to Snacks: Roasted Choc Salted Caramel Chickpeas, Dark Mint chocolate and I’m a sucker for any kind of chippie

Did you change your diet before going on The Bachelor?

Not a huge change to my diet before The Bachelor as I was already eating quite clean. I did however want to lean out slightly for the show, so I lowered my calorie intake. I was in a calorie deficit, increased my protein and introduced more vegetables, fruit and water to keep me feeling full.

Reduced processed foods and snacking (my biggest weakness) as these can make me feel quite bloated.

What are the simple things you do for self-care and to look after your mental health, why are these important to you?

  • Unscheduled days or half day: My life is very busy and very scheduled as I run my own business. So I’ll have a full day or half day where I don’t schedule any work at all and just do whatever I feel like doing. Catching up with friends, fam or have a bath binging on Sex & The City. I need these self-care days otherwise I’m a ball of stress and reach burn out
  • Thought Diaries: Help me to have a better understanding of my triggers and how to overcome them and become more self-aware.
  • Speaking to a Psychologist: absolute game changer. Psychology has honestly changed my life. I have learnt so much about myself and grown immensely.
  • Exercise/Walk: I always know that if I move my body it makes me feel good and gives me energy. Depending on how I am feeling it could be anything from a walk by the ocean, just getting outside in nature, in the sunshine to a light workout at the gym or at home.
  • Listening to my favourite Playlist
