Southampton defender Jack Stephens set to follow in James Ward-Prowse's footsteps by signing four-year contract extension

Southampton defender Jack Stephens has agreed a bumper new four-year contract, talkSPORT understands.

Stephens, 26, has followed Saints captain James Ward-Prowse by committing his future to the south coast side until the summer of 2024.

Stephens is set to extend his stay on the south coast

Centre-back Stephens has scored four goals in 91 league games since joining the Premier League side from Plymouth as a teenager.

The Cornwall-born ace has become a mainstay of Ralph Hasenhuttl’s first team.

England international Ward-Prowse put pen-to-paper on a new five-year deal earlier this summer, while Saints are in contract negotiations with Danny Ings and Ryan Bertrand over contract extensions.
