'That's in Tottenham's DNA, they will always disappoint you'

Roy Keane delivered a typically brutal verdict on Tottenham following another drab display from Jose Mourinho’s men on Thursday night.

Spurs failed to register a single shot on target during their 0-0 draw at Bournemouth, all-but ending their already-slim hopes of Champions League football next season.

Keane was on great form as always last night

Keane once revealed legendary Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson said ‘Lads, it’s Tottenham’ to inspire the Red Devils at half-time during a match against Spurs.

And now the Irishman, working as a pundit for Sky Sports, suggests disappointment runs through Tottenham’s DNA.

He said: “Tottenham were poor tonight. Bournemouth showed a bit more fight.

“They went to Sheffield [United], didn’t show any fight, made changes at half time.

“That’s in Tottenham’s DNA, they will constantly disappoint you. The table doesn’t lie, ninth, that’s where they deserve to be.”

Mourinho felt aggrieved that Tottenham were not awarded a penalty when Josh King collided with Harry Kane in the box, although VAR later rescued Spurs when it spotted the use of a hand to chalk off Bournemouth’s late goal.

And while Keane was staggered by the decision not to award a penalty to Spurs, the former Red Devils skipper insists Tottenham can’t hide behind bad decision when there are serious issues which need fixing.

Speaking at half-time, he said: “I’m amazed at that decision. Mourinho has got bigger worries, his team has been shocking.

“The only consolation is it can’t be any worse. This game is here for Bournemouth.

“Spurs look like they’re on their holidays. I’d fully expect Mourinho to make some changes.

“He has good options from the bench but the two players he has left out [Moura and Son] haven’t been playing that great.

Jamie O’Hara calls Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham team ‘so boring’ and admits he would rather watch Come Dine With Me

“Sometimes the manager has got to be ruthless which the manager is. He [Mourinho] has mentioned there that he has got four or five world class players.

“Tottenham don’t, Tottenham are an average team. Take Kane out of that team and they are in huge trouble.”
