These are the foods people on a diet miss the most

A new survey has revealed the foods that gym-goers and those on a diet miss the most when they are sticking to their strict regimes.

While cake, bread, takeaways, chips and pizza were all tempting, good old chocolate topped the list as the unhealthy treat that gym-goers missed most when working out.

The poll, of 2,000 people trying to stick to their health kick, revealed that Saturday was the day of the week that most people really struggle to stick to their diets, with over two thirds of people admitting that swearing off some of their favourite unhealthy foods was the hardest part of sticking to a diet.

“As the research shows, being fit and healthy doesn’t mean the hankerings for bad foods go away,” said a spokesperson for Iceland supermarket in the UK which commissioned the survey.

“It’s completely understandable we will waiver from time to time, and it’s typical that the foods we most long for tend to be high calorie. However there are foods available which are low calorie and can fill that void.”

As well as craving snacks and easy meals made up of unhealthy ingredients, the survey also showed that the temptation of a Friday night wine also proved almost too much for people. Both wine and beer came up as common causes for people falling off the diet wagon. (You’re not alone people, trust me.)

As a punishment for indulging in their favourite foods and not sticking to their diets, 41 per cent of respondents to the poll said they would go out for a long walk, a fifth would go swimming and a quarter would go for a run in order to burn off the excess calories. Same, guys, same.
