Thiago Alcantara is reportedly keen to play for Liverpool, yet Manchester City are also interested in signing the Bayern Munich midfielder.

With the defending Premier League champions apparently not keen to strengthen in midfield, it could allow City to swoop in and claim Thiago.

Thiago is wanted by both Liverpool and Manchester City

The 29-year-old has one year left on his current deal in Munich and has told the club’s hierarchy he would like a new challenge.

Yet Liverpool have an embarrassing amount of talent in midfield already, with academy graduate Curtis Jones also set to make a real break into the first team next season.

Sky Sports claim Georginio Wijnaldum is waiting to sign a new contract at Anfield, yet his departure would not necessarily mean Thiago will be brought in as a replacement.

According to German outlet Bild, Bayern are now reportedly also entertaining an offer from City for Thiago.

Pep Guardiola brought the Spain international to Germany in 2013 and it is claimed City are ‘offering more’. It is unclear if this means to the club or the player himself.

With David Silva retiring at the end of the season and Phil Foden capable of filling the gap created by Leroy Sane on the left-hand side, a move for Thiago could make perfect sense for the Citizens.
