Members of a Toronto community are mourning the loss of a historic Toronto church that was home to irreplaceable artworks, after it was devastated by fire over the weekend.

St. Anne’s Anglican church was constructed in 1862 and designated by the Ontario Heritage Act.

Among the artworks in its hallowed halls were several murals and impressive paintings — some painted by three of Canada’s iconic Group of Seven.

The iconic dome of the church, a focal point of the historic building, was reduced to charred wood by the fire.

Caryn Lieberman reports on the community’s response to its tragic loss.
