Crystal Palace are impressing in the transfer market this summer with five players already signing under new boss Patrick Vieira.

Their manager search took a little longer than expected following Roy Hodgson’s departure – with the likes of Nuno Espirito Santo and Lucien Favre coming close.

Vieira and Palace have been busy in the transfer market

The Eagles also had a number of players out of contract last season, so had plenty to do when they did finally get their man in the door.

Their business has been swift and impressive – landing Vieira’s top targets so far with more still on their radar.

Before joining Palace, Vieira had been the head coach of French outfit OGC Nice and secured impressive seventh and sixth placed finishes in his first two seasons.

Former Southampton star Jose Fonte, now captain of Lille, came up against Vieira’s team on four occasions in Ligue 1 before he was sacked last December, drawing twice, losing once, and winning once.

Speaking to talkSPORT, he was asked what Palace fans can expect from their new manager.

He told White and Jordan: “At Nice he did a good job in the first few seasons, of course we all know how incredible he was as a player, but as a manager he was perceived as someone with quality.

“I am looking forward to seeing what he can bring to Crystal Palace.

“I’m looking forward to what he can bring to the Premier League and to that team and it will be interesting to see what he can do, I think he definitely has what it takes to succeed.”

And Palace fans will no doubt be keen to see what the Arsenal legend can do in the dugout – with plenty of backing from the club’s owners.

There was some exciting young talents signed by the club so far, starting with 19-year-old Michael Olise from Reading.

He was named the EFL’s Young Player of the Season and cost £8million.

He can play as an attacking midfielder on the right, left and behind a striker.

Palace then splashed out £18million to bring Marc Guehi in from Chelsea, with the centre-back penning a five-year deal.

The 21-year-old is extremely highly-rated and spent last season on loan with Swansea, but has found chances in the Blues first team limited.

Partnering him will be Joachim Andersen, who impressed on loan at Fulham from Lyon last season.

Tottenham were interested in signing him, before Palace landed their man in a deal worth around £17million.

The latest to sign is Conor Gallagher on loan from Chelsea. The midfielder was brilliant with West Brom last season and has joined Palace in search of more first-team football this season.

Gallagher was said to be one of Vieira’s priority signings and the player was equally as pleased to join.

He said: “I’m buzzing to be here. I can’t wait to get started, I’m happy to get the deal over the line.

“I spoke to the manager, I liked what he said, I liked how he wants to play, how he wants me to play and how he wants the team to play. I feel like I can learn from him and the players around me.”

The Eagles are sure to be active still in the market with reports linking them to Watford star Will Hughes, who is entering the final year of his contract.
