WWE pick Drew McIntyre to replace Lars Sullivan as John Cena's opponent at WrestleMania 35

Sullivan out

Following Lars Sullivan’s panic attack, WWE have been forced to come up with a plan B.

Ahead of the Royal Rumble, the plan was for Lars Sullivan to debut on WWE TV and face off against John Cena at WrestleMania 35.

What an introduction, right? It’s rare that any talent is given that kind of push as soon as they debut, but it shows what the company thought of Sullivan.

Lars Sullivan was set for a big push in WWE before his anxiety attack

However, The Freak had a panic attack backstage at Raw ahead of his debut and has failed to appear or even be mentioned since.

Sullivan was meant to attack Cena and force him out of the Royal Rumble, but when that didn’t happen, WWE had Cena suffer an ambiguous ‘ankle injury’ to put him on the shelf.

According to Ringside News, the WWE have decided to put Drew McIntyre into Sullivan’s spot.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider has already reported that Cena will be available to appear at WrestleMania 35, but he didn’t know the plans a few weeks ago.

“John Cena is filming his new movie until April 1 in Vancouver British Columbia, Johnson said. “That allows him six days to have a match at WrestleMania. It is possible that he will appear,” Johnson said.
“I would be shocked if he doesn’t appear, whether he has a match or not. I have not heard anything.”

Former NXT and Intercontinental champion,McIntyre seems destined for a world title soon

McIntyre has publicly stated his interest in facing Cena at the Show of Shows in the past and if Cena is going to give someone one hell of a rub, the Scottish Terminator seems like a fitting candidate.

“I might consider having a match with John Cena at WrestleMania just as big [as a title match], because as was mentioned earlier, he might not have too many left and I do believe he is the greatest superstar of all time.

“So that would be the biggest notch in my belt if that was to go through.”

Given Cena’s schedule leading up to WrestleMania, a lot of pressure is going to fall on McIntyre to make this feud work.
