United States President Joe Biden on Friday greeted South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, and Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio ahead of the Camp David Trilateral Summit. The three nations announced they would work together and pledge to consult each other in moments of crisis, officials said, a commitment designed to deepen three-way military ties as the US seeks to rally its allies to counter China's rising influence.

Meanwhile, Kishida announced that Japan will contribute $2 million towards the recovery of wildfire devastation in Hawaii.

National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said that in his opinion, "...this summit signifies a new era of trilateral cooperation for the US, Japan, and Korea."
