In an update on Monday, Toronto police said that they suspected road rage as a possible cause of a shooting that left two people seriously injured in the city’s downtown core earlier in the morning. Prior to the shooting, police said they also received calls about “stunt driving” that had been occurring in the area.
Emergency crews were called to Yonge and Bloor Streets at around 6 a.m. for reports of a shooting, finding two victims suffering from gunshot wounds — a male and a female victim both in their twenties. Police said that victims are being treated for “serious but non-life threatening” injuries.
Police described the suspect vehicle as a black SUV, but did not have a description of the suspect shooter or shooters. The representative confirmed that there were multiple shots fired and Forensic Identification Services is currently on scene to actively process the scene for additional information.
Police said the suspect vehicle fled in an unknown direction. There are road closures in the area and police are advising motorists to take alternate routes, and to reach out if they have any potential information about the incident.
