For stroke victims, any delay in diagnosis or treatment can be life-threatening. But in what doctors are calling a "postcode lottery", rural patients often can't get help within the "golden hour", which is the first 60 minutes after the onset of a stroke.
Now, Queensland researchers have developoed a world first mini portable brain scanner that can be used by paramedics at the scene, diagnosing patients within minutes.
