Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) denied that the Florida curriculum standards portray slaves as having “benefit[ted]” from the institution of slavery in an exclusive interview with NBC News Correspondent Dasha Burns. “If this was a different state and the governor wasn’t running for president, no one would have said anything about that,” DeSantis said.
