The prime minister is facing the prospect of a by-election in Blackpool South.

The MP there, Scott Benton, has lost his appeal against his suspension from parliament.

He was suspended from the parliamentary Conservative party last April after being caught in an undercover sting by The Times suggesting he would be willing to break lobbying rules for money.
