In a major shakeup to government, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak appointed former PM David Cameron as the U.K.’s newest foreign minister on Monday in an unexpected cabinet shuffle. Cameron “gladly accepted” the role, despite past disagreements on “individual decisions.”

Before igniting “Brexit,” and making an exit from politics altogether, Cameron served as the British PM between 2010 and 2016.

On his return, Cameron said, “the prime minister asked me to do this job and it's a time where we have some daunting challenges as a country.”

He continued: “Of course I’ve disagreed with some individual decisions but politics is a team enterprise. I've decided to join this team because I believe Rishi Sunak is a good prime minister doing a difficult job at a hard time.”

In place of Suella Braverman, Sunak has appointed former foreign minister James Cleverly as home secretary. Braverman’s dismissal came after accusing police of being too lenient with pro-Palestinian protesters, amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.
