An effective breath is one that minimizes the disruption of your stroke while you breathe. Adding a breath in freestyle will always result in some change to your stroke. Your goal is to make that change as small as possible. Doing so will allow you to maintain an effective rhythm, minimize any increase in drag, and minimize any loss of propulsion. A low, straight, fast breath accomplishes this objective. #swimming #freestyleswimming
