The deadline to leave Yellowknife over a nearby wildfire has passed for the city's 20,000-plus residents. Now, people scramble to make their way to the nearest evacuation shelter.

Though people are struggling to secure a seat out of the territory, officials say they will continue to schedule flights out of the capital for as long as it takes.

Global's Jayme Doll looks at how evacuees are being helped out of the fire zone.
