Canada’s federal court has ruled that the Trudeau government’s decision to invoke the Emergencies Act to shut down protests in 2022 was “unreasonable” and unjustified — contradicting a previous public inquiry. The federal government invoked emergency measures to clear Ottawa’s streets after the capital was occupied for nearly a month and blockades were set up at border crossings by so-called “Freedom Convoy” protesters. A heli-ski trip in British Columbia has turned tragic after a helicopter went down about 50 kilometres northwest of Terrace, B.C. Three people were killed and four were badly injured in the crash. It was one of three helicopters on a backcountry ski trip. Cassidy Mosconi reports on the recovery efforts.

A sombre ceremony in the small community of L’Isle Verte in Eastern Quebec, as it marks the 10th anniversary of a fire that ripped through a senior's residence. Thirty-two people were killed. As Mike Armstrong reports, time has passed but for those who lived through it the memories are still painful.
