In tonight's top story: We are hearing new warnings Earth may be at the point of no return when it comes to climate change. From rampant wildfires to record-breaking heat waves this summer, the effects of climate change are being felt across Canada. Today, there were multiple heat warnings in parts of Atlantic Canada and up north in Yukon and Northwest Territories, though the largest area with a heat warning is in Southern Ontario. Eric Sorensen looks at the toll the soaring temperatures are taking.

The Canadian economy grew by 0.3 per cent in May according to the latest data from Statistics Canada, but the future economic picture is not looking as positive. Mackenzie Gray has more from Ottawa on how today's data could impact a looming interest rate decision.

A clearer picture is emerging of how an alcohol-fuelled night cost a Canadian Supreme Court judge his job. Global News has obtained new body-worn-camera footage of a confrontation from last winter involving former judge Russell Brown. He resigned last June after a complaint to the Canadian Judicial Council, but details remain hidden from the public. Touria Izri reports on the push for more transparency in Canada.

Former U.S. president Donald Trump was hit with additional charges late Thursday, in a case linked to his handling of sensitive documents. The U.S. government alleges that Trump, an aide, and an IT worker at his Florida estate were actively plotting to tamper with security cameras. Reggie Cecchini reports.

Plus, seawater temperatures in Florida are hitting hot tub heat levels. As Jackson Proskow explains, this is causing coral bleaching and severely damaging the ocean’s ecosystems.

And Ukrainian fencer Olga Kharlan was disqualified from the World Fencing Championships on Thursday after refusing to shake hands with Russian fencer Anna Smirnova. Mike Armstrong has that story.
