Calgary, along with Central and Southern Alberta, is currently under a heat warning issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada.

Additionally, due to the increased demand for power, the Alberta Energy Systems Operator has issued a grid alert.

According to Adam Loria from Calgary EMS, it's crucial to stay hydrated during high temperatures. Loria emphasizes the importance of avoiding drinks like caffeinated beverages and alcohol, as they can contribute to dehydration.

"With this type of weather, we want to combat dehydration, so it's essential to be mindful of the drinks we consume," he said.

Dr. Raj Bhardwaj points out that heat tolerance is subjective, but humidity is another critical factor to consider.

“When it starts getting into the 30s, then it's a good idea to pay attention. If it gets into the high 30s, mid 30s then it might be a good idea to change plans because at that level, sweating, doesn't cool you down as much," Bhardwaj said.

Global's Gaby Rios has more tips for trying to beat the heat.
