Hungary is a member of both the EU and NATO but the foreign policy approach of the country's prime minister, Viktor Orban, often rejects the sensibilities of these alliances. Not one serving EU leader came to Hungary in August 2023, when Prime Minister Viktor Orban celebrated Hungary's birthday.
