Kache Grist, 11, from Osoyoos, B.C. was attacked and killed by dogs while on a spring break visit to see his father in Edmonton.

His mother Kendrah Wong said the Grade 5 student was an hour away from being picked up to go back to B.C. when the two Cane Corso dogs attacked him while he was inside his father’s home. Kache would have turned 12 on May 8th.

The dogs were owned by his dad's roommate and have since been seized by Edmonton's Animal Care and Control. There had been multiple complaints about the dogs, including two reports of attacks this year alone.

Breanna Karstens-Smith spoke with the grieving mother about the tragedy in Edmonton's Summerside neighbourhood.
