Supporters of former Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan were arrested Saturday as they protested his arrest and conviction on corruption charges.

Khan was taken into custody Saturday at his home in Lahore, Pakistan, after a court sentenced him to three years for illegally selling state gifts. Prior to his arrest, Khan published a video on social media, imploring his supporters not to “sit silently at home.”

“This looks like it was planned,” one protester said about Khan’s arrest. “This cannot end well. This should have been done in a proper way. He was the only one arrested. What about the other ‘Angel’ politicians?”

The arrest is the latest in a series of blows that have weakened Khan’s political standing after he fell out with Pakistan’s powerful military and his party splintered.
