Israel-Hamas: Elation on both sides of conflict as hostages and prisoners reunited with family

Israeli officials gave the hostages released on Friday a little time with family members before releasing images of those reunions.

On the first day of the temporary pause in fighting, Hamas handed over 13 Israeli hostages, it also released 10 Thai citizens it was holding and one Filipino. Their release was negotiated as part of a separate deal.

There was cheering in the streets of the West Bank as 39 prisoners from Israeli prisons were released. They were all women and teenage boys. Most were detained for harming regional security and stone-throwing though some were accused of more serious crimes.
