A battle is brewing in Texas over a state abortion ban after a judge ruled the law is too restrictive for women with pregnancy complications.

But almost as soon as the judge introduced the temporary injunction the Texas attorney general’s office filed an appeal – effectively blocking the injunction from taking effect.

The judge’s ruling followed an emotional hearing in which several women described how the ban had put their health at risk.
