As a result of heavy smoke and fog from wildfires, a massive multi-car collision consisting of 34 vehicles occurred Friday morning on a highway east of Edmonton in Alberta.

The Global 1 helicopter captured the scene as it unfolded.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) revealed first responders were called to at least two multi-vehicle collisions on Highway 21 near Township Road 520, where fourteen people were taken to hospital.

“Visibility in the area is extremely poor due to heavy smoke from the wildfires combined with moisture in the air,” RCMP said in a 6:45 a.m. MDT news release.
