About 3,700 Metro workers are on the picket lines for a second day, as 27 grocery stores in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) remain closed.

Workers walked off the job Saturday morning, after rejecting a tentative contract agreement that initially averted strike action earlier this month. Metro workers are pushing for better pay, benefits and working conditions.

Staff say inflation and the cost of living has hit so hard that they can't even afford the food they're selling at those stores, and they're having to turn to food banks for support.

As Global’s Ahmar Khan tells us, the implications of the job action could be widespread.
